If you need to whip something quick for your office party, kid’s bake sale or just something for yourself to munch at home… I have a quick and easy recipe with just five (and cheap) ingredients. When I first made them I thought they were a little bit on the sweet side so I cut down the sugar by half and added opted for nuts.
Ingredients for Chocolate Toffee Bars: Ingredients for Heath Toffee Bars:
- 1/2 pack of saltines • 1/2 pack of Saltines
- 1/4 cup of sugar • 1/4 cup of sugar
- 6 TBSP of Butter • 6 TBSP of Butter
- 1 Cup of semi-sweet Chocolate Chips • 1 Cup of Heath Bar bits
- Heath Bar bits for topping • Chopped Walnuts for topping
1.) Preheat oven to 400 Degrees. Line baking pan with parchment paper.
2.) Melt the butter with the sugar in a sauce pan over medium heat. Lay Saltines (salt side up) on the baking sheet. Pour the melted butter/sugar over the saltines.
3.) Put it in the over till you see the saltines bubble (about 8 minutes). Quickly pour the chocolate chips or the heath bar bits over the saltines. Put it back in the oven for another 5 – 10 minutes.
4.)When you have seen some of the chips melt.. take out the baking sheet and spread the chocolate or heath bar bits out smoothly. Sprinkle the toppings and place in the fridge for a couple of hours.
